Projects in progress

A few weeks ago, my sweet husband came down to my craft room to see what I was up to and when he saw my room he had a look of horror in his eyes.
This is what he saw:

He then suggested knocking down the wall that separates my craft room from the guest room in an effort to give me more room to create. I told him that it wasn't necessary since all this room really needs is a good cleaning. In my mind, a messy room means I'm actually doing something creative. It makes me happy. Don't miss understand, the mess doesn't make me happy. I can't tell you how many times I've tripped over something.
Anyway,
Here's what I've been working on:
A sign and an american flag and the letters for my flag (It's never too early to think of July 4th)

A few weeks ago I taught a bunch of ladies how to make decorative wooden block letters. I had a few blocks left over so I made this.
(I did not teach them how to make the snowman) I made him up on my own.
Hopefully soon I will have the flag and the sign finished to show off.

Book Worm

I've been in a "reading mood" lately. Ever feel like that? Just curl up with a good book and let everything else wait. Like laundry, dinner, and cleaning. Yep, that's how I'm feeling. My Kindle will be put to good use over the next month or so.

Maybe I'll hire a maid service.

Ten years...

Friday was our ten year anniversary. Wow, how time flies...We decided to spend this wonderful occasion at home with a promise that we would make it up next year. I was given a fragrant bouquet of roses and lilies and we ate soup and salad at Mark Anthony's Italian Restaurant.

It was perfect!!

Hanging out...

Okay so I've been a little neglectful.

But what a nice summer so far...filled with yard work, motorcycle getaways and relaxing in a nice air conditioned home watching Ace of Cakes. Boy, I love that show. In my next life I want to be a cake decorator!

Looking forward to sitting on the beach for the next week!

Happy Birthday

3x3 cards

Baby girl card

Thank you cards

Thinking of you

Hi
Happy Birthday

and here's where I have been hanging out. This is my dining room table. What started out as a small project morphed into an even bigger mess. (I have since cleaned up, thankfully) My goal is to make cards in mass quantities rather than one at a time. So far it has worked out well.
I won't show you my painting just yet. I will know this week whether or not i'm accepted.

Oh, I have another blog http://jludwigdesigns.blogspot.com I am using this blog to record all of my decorating ideas and such.

Me, Myself and I

So while I have been away from my "blog journal" I have been working on taking care of ME.

Sometimes you don't realize how crazy things are around you until you're in "the thick of it". My life has been like that the last few months but I have also been working on a little ME time.

I have started to go to the gym twice a week--Yoga is SO good for you
I have been making things (crafty things) in the evenings. Usually while catching up on our favorite recorded television shows and baking J a bunch of oatmeal raisin cookies.
I submitted my first painting in an art show (something I have NEVER done before, and if I am rejected, it will be OK)
I try really (really, really) hard to not check my Blackberry every five minutes during the day and on the weekends. I never realized how stressful having this little device can make a person.
Sadly, I had to turn down some interior design work because there was no way I could fit a complete house overhaul with my current schedule. I have a hard time saying no, but it just wasn't going to happen.

I'm feeling good!

Missing

I've neglected this poor blog of mine. I have been so busy with work that I don't even have time to write about it! The business I work for has been doing really well. It's sad but whenever the economy is in the tank, we thrive--job security I suppose.

That is my excuse.

I am grateful that I have a job and that I work for a wonderful boss who still recognizes the importance of balancing work and family. It feels nice to be able to help people who have been caught in the ugly unemployment/economic mess.

With an overload of work comes a stagnant dusty craft room...poor thing. I will get back there...I hope.
